Folding Bikes - I am finished with Sherman Tanks

Won't fit in my apartment and it's going rusty.

The Dahon (with a rider) applies higher ground pressure than the tank.

Darn, they just don't make decorative Sherman tanks they way they used to...

The tank has 20" wheels. That's why I bought it.

When I first read the title of this topic, I thought maybe you were inferring your folder is a "tank", meaning that it's very heavy or something like that. In that sense, my folder is more like a "tank" than your Dahon. Other than that first assumption, I don't know what is it you're trying to say to us.

Any pictures of it folded? I was thinking of bidding for one on ebay, but want to know if it will fit in the luggage racks on the local commuter trains.

It was always an interesting experience getting our M1A1 tanks onto the trains in Germany. The tracks hung off each side a half foot or so.

wow - that's 6 20" tires on one side. i wonder how much time you need to fold this...

Did you write them a letter about the rust? They ought to send a replacement.

You have to know Snafu the way some of us old timers do. That is to say, with a huuuge portion of tongue in cheek. British variety of tongue-in-cheek, no less....

While I was fannying about around the tank with the camera (it's at the D-Day museum in Southsea. Portsmouth UK) an old chap on a Brompton came up and started chatting about folders. He has a Brompton (in British Racing Green, doncha' know) and a Vitesse like mine. He was just turned 80 and cycled up and down the sea-front every day. Lived in an apartment, hence the two folders. Great spirit. He was in the war of course, as my parents were, and pleased to see my interest in not forgetting the past. We talked about The Decisive Role of the Sherman Tank in WWII History.

There is, along the Pas De Calais and Normandy beaches in France, a great wealth of bicycling and history to be had, so I hope to make that trip this year. I've done it on motorcycles. but not yet on Ye Folder.
