Hi,
my wife is 5' 2". We want to extend the season this year.
It's hard enough finding summer cycling clothing, for cooler temps
there isn't much. I wanted to get her my favorite North Face
pullover, they aren't making it this year. Next year, but not this year.
I remember the Queen making a similar comment to Alice in Wonderland.
"Jam yesterday, and jam tomorrow, but never jam today."

It would have been lovely to search the Women's Forum. It would have been nice to post this there. In any case, I am feeling 3 different kinds of frustrated right now. Price, availablity, and information (as in lack of) to be specific. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

But then you might have missed a reply by a man with a short wife

I left out one little detail. Her birthday is in 6 days.

Does UnderArmour ColdGear come in her size? It probably does. Full retail for a long sleeve shirt is $50, but it's worth it. One shirt and a nylon shell gets me down to about 20F. And the shirt breaths so well I can wear it up to the 50's F.

I checked, and it does. I found a store that carries it nearby, and I'll check it out manana. Have to go out that way to see the dentist anyway. Thanks.

First, I don't think that women distinguish between clothing for cold weather based on whether we are taller or shorter...

Having said that, it's pretty much the same thing that's been suggested in the Winter Cycling Forums- you have your warm layer, your wicking layer, and your windbreaking layer.

If it helps you any, I saw no threads in Women's Cycling pertaining to this. But do a search in the Winter Cycling Forum if you need help. There were a few threads there (15, to be exact). As someone who is 5' 1 1/2", I can assure you that I got all my tips from the Winter Cycling forum, and I had no problems using their advice as far as to how to layer for the winter.

Have you tried Performance Bike for clothing? I know they are just coming out with their fall stock, so you can check there. Also check Nashbar. They are the two biggest stores with the best prices, and most people tend to go there for their winter clothing selections.

For help, try doing a search under "winter clothing layering" and "winter clothing". That should bring up quite a few discussions about more about the type of clothing to choose for cooler weather.

Hi,
I just ordered some Goretex cycling tights from Perormance.
With a coupon they were about $64. If she likes them I'll prob have a chamois put in. I greatly prefer a single layer until it gets genuinely cold.

Sounds good. They also may be so thick that you may not need to put a chamois in. I got some of those tights on sale, and they really do work well. Once it gets really cold, I use the performance rain pants as the windbreaking layer, and it keeps me warm enough.
