I have a truevativ 110 hollow axle w/ external cup bb crankset I'd love to put on my town fixed gear.

I know its a road compact crankset, but are there any other sellers of 110bcd 1/8 45-49t besides cheapo orgin8?

Thanks,

_R

If you are going to cludge, why not go all the way and open up your options to 3/32" ? Otherwise, maybe look at a BMX chain ring.... something cheap like dimension or whatever... but 110 is not "weird" at all. It is a standard....

If it's a external cup roadcrank, check your chainline. It might be tough to make it work.

my chainline was perfect with a tiagra external and a novatech/formula hub.

and yes, go for 3/32". you can use 1/8" chains on a 3/32" chainring and cog no problem.

The 110mm BCD was introduced for touring bikes to accommodate small chainrings, thus almost all the rings for that BCD will be for 3/32" chain. 1/8" chain has been pretty much exclusive to track and IHG bikes for many decades now, so there's not much call for small chainrings in that market.

You need to decide whether a 1/8" ring is important enough to you to switch to a track type crank, or simply use a 3/32" ring on your present 110mm BCD arm. As noted above, 1/8" chain will work with either 1/8" or 3/32" cogs and chainrings.

These guys will also do it for you, at somewhat higher cost (although the Pound Sterling is currently pretty weak compared to the dollar) and they offer more stylistic options: http://www.highpath.net/index.html

There is plenty of 1/8" 110 BCD chainrings - they are usually BMX chainrings, and some (but not all) are extremely tough. Most are quite cheap, compared to 144 BCD chainrings. For example, this one. (http://www.amazon.com/Action-46t-Chainring-Alloy-Black/dp/B001T5OO3O) Surly makes 110 BCD 3/32" chainrings from stainless steel (http://www.treefortbikes.com/product/333222346624/325/Surly-Ring-44t-x-110mm-Stainless.html). (much larger exist, too) (http://www.treefortbikes.com/product/333222346628/325/Surly-Ring-49t-x-110mm-Stainless.html) These will outlive any aluminum chainring (even 7075 ones) many times over.

In any case, evoid like the plague the Rocket Rings. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280355516707&rvr_id=&crlp=1_263602_263622&UA=WXS%3F&GUID=e839de921260a03662b3e3c3fff4a981&itemid=280355516707&ff4=263602_263622#ht_507wt_960) They are the worst chainrings ever made in human history, and it's a shame on humankind's face that they even exist.

oh and another question, does anyone know if the dimension 110mm bmx chainring is actually black? All the pictures look more gun metal and Im really set on black... or are there any other wide profile rings like the sugino messenger ring in 110mm bcd that can be recommended?
