I have been back on the bike for the past couple months just trying to get some semblance of conditioning back.
I took a week off the bike over spring break and decided to take the bike in for a tune-up. Complete overhaul on the bike including new chain and tires. I went with Continental Gatorskin tires which is not what I had previously on the bike. It just seemed like I was fighting against the bike the entire ride. No transfer of energy from my legs to the bike. Balance seemed off. Everything was a struggle.
Went for my first ride last night and it was terrible. Felt like I was riding through molasses the entire ride. Average speed was about 2 mph slower than any other ride this year.
So, was it mental, physical or mechanical?
