Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

what are your thoughts on Jamis Aurora bikes... good quality, bad quality, will fall apart on me after a week?
Jamis makes some pretty good bikes in the cheap price range.

cheap being an important word that goes well along with my word poor.

They make very well regarded bikes at good prices.
The aurora is a light touring machine, rather than an expedition/camping tourer, but for a general purpose commuting/hostel touring/fun road bike its hard to beat.
I got my copy of Adventure Cyclist in the mail today, and they list the Jamis Aurora in the category of Loaded Touring. I know nothing about this bicycle--just passing along this info from Adv Cyc.
Ive toured cross country on my Jamis Aurora,as well as hundreds if not thousands more miles commuting.I have had no problems to speak of with the bike and have definetly been satisifed. The bike has never had panniers however, only a rear rack bag, all loads were carried on a BOB trailer.IMHO most all major bike brands put forth virtually identical quaulity bikes.Like cars for example - is a Ford better than a Chevy?Im sure some would say so,and just as many say not.I would ride as many bikes as possible and go with what is most comfortable.
