Kath and I did 76 today with 6K of climbing including Mt. Diablo and Morgan Territory (for you Northern Cal folks). The first 20 miles, man I felt like crawling off and rolling up in the fetal position. No power, heart racing, just generally feeling like crap.
This has been going on for some time. I did my double on my fixie two weeks ago and felt fine. One thing I did do on that ride...I made sure I ate well. And I used Perpetuem. I also did today. We stopped mid-way and had lunch. I had a chicken burrito and made sure I had a lot of protein in the morning. By that I mean, two eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt and oatmeal.
All, I can say is, I did OK after the initial 2000' climb up Diablo (we didn't climb the whole thing due to bad weather at the top. Good excuse for me anyway). What would happen is when we started climbing my heart felt like it was racing (HR Monitor never went over 150) and then I'd have no power in the legs.
So, I sure want to know what the hell is going on with me. I'm away for business next week but when I get back (after a double on next Saturday), I'm going back to Kaiser. First time I did, they found nothing wrong with me. Said I was in great shape...
