....how much fun cycling was until I slipped out on the Tour Easy out for a leisurly 20 miles this morning for the first ride on this bike all year.

The roads were relatively quiet, the sun was shinning, 50*F temperature felt just nice and comfy, and the bike.....oh the bike is so comfortable! While stealthly cruising along just a foot or so off the pavement, the steel frame nicely absorbing the road vibrations, the wind in my face, nicely stretched out on that long black bike I found what I've been missing since last October. Of all my rides, this is the one that I feel most at ease, most at peace on. No matter what, I must always have one of these (preferrably, this one) in my stable.

As you can see from the pic below, Spring is in full swing around these parts....

The wild turkeys are out and about.....

The Stephen B Roman is plying the waters of Lake Ontario delivering Cement already. Here it is docked at the cement plant on the Genesee River. I'm guessing she's empty as she appears to be riding high on the water....

And of course, the swans are always out on the river....

Great ride picks - thanks

It's warming here too - the grass is so green right now, the trees are blooming here too. I rode up the Mohawk, the river is low as the locks are still open. Did a nice hill climb. I had to fight a stiff wind out of the west though. The only really interesting thing I experienced was a bit of a bonk after about 25 miles, I usually don't have to worry about that until I start riding 40 miles or more so I had no food or sports drink - just water, and I ran out of that, this was just a 30 mile ride. I guess that wind at the start combined with the climb got me.

I'm not a recumbent kind of guy, never ridden one, but I have to say that's not a bad looking bike.

I'm finding that a long wheelbase 'bent is excellent at soaking up road bumps and surface imperfections.

An interesting point. While riding my SWB recumbent on the Katy Trail this morning I encountered several stretches where tractors had used the trail while it was soft from rain. What an eye ball jiggler that turned out to be. I was surprised to find that I noticed those tire tread stutter bumps a lot more than I would on a conventional bike.

26x1.5" tires front and rear help, too, especially since I no longer use max psi.

SWB, yes I try to avoid bumps like the plague when I'm on the Volae.

I'm running 20 x 1.25 front and 26 x 1.25 rear on it. Sometimes I swear I can feel the grain in the asphault!
