I feel like I have a good sense on the value of most Raleighs, but I've never bought or owned a Raleigh International (something I'd like to remedy). Assuming the following is in the condition that it looks like it is...is $500 a reasonable price?

When I opened your thread, before I saw the estimate, I was thinking $300 is buy it now, $400 is good, $500 is high, but not unreasonable. Those older high end Raleighs are really hard to come by.

A Raleigh International frame and fork in good shape recently went for approx $450 on the bay...(including shipping)...I'd say you're getting a good deal...(and you're lucky :)

It seemed like in between the value of a Raleigh Professional and a Raleigh Comp. GS to me...so it seemed about right. Fair value, not a screaming deal. I'd also have shipping costs on top of that $500...I don't know that this is a go at that price. I also have no idea what the market is like in that area...I'm not sure if I can wait a few weeks on a $300 offer and have a reasonable shot at him accepting it.

I would say 500 is in line with other Raleigh International sales. I guess the saddle, stem and brake levers might be bummers but I know the frame and fork can get 300.00 on ebay with no problem. Not to mention, this one has chromed capella lugs... Oh Yeah!

Here are a few pics of my 1971 International, purchased last June thru CL for $500. All original, it came with two sets of wheels. Only negative was the Brooks saddle.

It's so hard to tell if this is original paint or not. I don't see the bands on the seat tube and the color looks a bit different than what I expected from the catalog. Does anyone have any insight into whether this is original?
That looks very close to the 1973 International I used to have (and bought new). From what I recall, there were no bands on the seat tube? Seems to be missing the Brooks Pro however.

The images from Retyred show the lime green with the small international model transfer. The initial subject's bike shows the later larger typography... the gold accents here and there be it bands or striping, at least on mine appear as paint, and can be polished off. Used to happen years ago when guy would bring one of these often underused bikes in for an overhaul.
The Capella lugs are uncommon, I think the price is with the market or a bit below, these bikes suffer from being parted out often, the bike a la carte is worth more than whole.
