Recumbent - Any Trikers out there?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey Folks!!
I currently ride a Vision R40, but have recently been piqued by trikes. There are so few riders out there it's hard to find one to ask questions.
I'm torn between Greenspeed GTO and TriceXL or Trice Explorer. I do occasional long distance, self contained touring (Circle tour of Lake Superior being the last trip). Otherwise I just rip up and down a rails trail outside my back door.
Any feedback??

Hi, i don;t ride trykes, but i am interested in them to some extent. I made a freestyle tryke last summer, all i have to do is weld it. I think they are just as great as bikes. I don't knwo what kind of trykes r made today, or anything about them, but from my freestyle tryke project i grew to like them and wouldn't mind seeing them more.

I'd like to get the greenspeed tandem, 6 grand is a lot of dough for a trike. but i would tour the country. if i can talk my wife into it,
Hello,
I have test ridden both a GS GTO and some of the Trice models, but not the Explorer. Definitely test ride them before buying. Some of the seats didn't bend exactly where I did. It was 140 miles (one way) to the nearest GTO dealer and about 300 miles (one way) to the nearest Trice dealer.
GTO - (www.valleybikes.com)
Trice - (www.thebikerack.com)
*Both dealers were very helpful and spent a lot of time with me and my
questions: (even)
*Seat fit (for me): GTO
*Cost: GTO
*Travel time (to dealer): GTO (They moved and are now just 90 miles away.)
*Suspension available: Trice
*Extras (computer mount, mudflaps, side mount for handlebar bag); Trice
The first four above were the most important for me, so I went with the GTO. YMMV.

We do have one woman in our club that rides a faired greenspeed trike ($10,000), has internal front crank gear you change by clicking a button with the heel. So small only she can fit into it.
There very few places I would feel comfortable riding it on the road as it takes so much of the shoulder.
If I can I'll see if I can get her e-mail address for you.
