i still need more info on what chians to buy
i mean does the size of the chain have to do with how many teeth the chainwheel has or the freewheel

the # of teeth on the chainwheel and freewheel determines the chain LENGTH
the size of them determines the SIZE
take it to a bike shop if your not sure what chain to buy

You will only have to worry about the width of the chain. If you buy it one line they will send you one that is long enough no matter what. However certain chains dont work unless your running a certian freewheel. I suggest you go to danscomp.com and read what it says next to each chain and do alil measuring before you choose a chain

Chains always are to long... you always take links out. That's why you buy a $3.00 chain removal tool and never worry about it again.

so is it bad, this isnt true on my diamondback or my mirra pro bikes but it is on my oldest bike my gt, on that bike when i pull the wheel back to tighten theres about a quarter of an inch left pull back, maybe not even that.

It's not bad, but you should take one link out (a link consists of one inner link and one outer link). It will shorten your back end some which makes bunnyhops a little easier as well.

I know someone who runs a half link and no master link and runs his back wheel flush to the inside of his dropout, so he actually has to break his chain everytime he wants to take off or put on his wheel, its super tight though. Smooth as hell. Dont try that unless you know what your doing.
