Sitting down is 100% of the control of the trick. If you are doing them with one foot on the pedal, and the other foot squeaking, then you don't have to sit, but if you have one foot on the peg, and the other squeaking then you most DEFINITELY want to sit down. It makes the trick ten times easier... or more.

I have seen people that insist upon standing when learning them. They say "I can't sit down." Then two months later they are doing squeakers... and are sitting down. You can either learn the hard way, by denying that sitting down is the way to do them. Or, you can just learn to sit down. About 50% of your weight is on your butt! You don't just lean against the seat, you actually sit on it. It makes the trick so much easier.

Anyways, squeakers, by definition, use brakes. But, it is definitely possible to do squeakers without brakes. Technically, they wouldn't be squeakers anymore. But, for all intents and purposes, they look like squeakers. The body position is the same, and you have the same motion, you just never fall forward, so you never need to hit your front brakes.

If you fall forward a lot then, yes. Or, because you are used to them without brakes, it'll just make them harder. Depends on you, not your brakes.
