I don't know about you, but when I have been sweating alot, I find I get some serious gratification from a Vlasic dill pickle. Or, any good pickle for that matter. I just love them. I have to be careful, as there is enough sodium in them to raise blood pressure in the dead. So, I minimize my pickle intake. LOL

I swear, I am a guy, not a pregnant women. But, there is just something satisfying about a good dill pickle when I really need a boost.

There must be some sort of natural electrolytes in the brine or something?

Or, am I just a crazy pickleholic? :D

the answer is in the question! brine is an electrolytic fluid, the Na+ and Cl- are electrolytes and amongst others are what you loose in your sweat. maybe you're not consuming enough electrolytes when training.

Knighty is right on. For me it doesn't matter, I love 'em anytime. But, sometimes, they just hit the spot.

Oh, my gosh!!!! Commuterkat, I got a jar of these olives from some deli that has pearl onions and cloves of garlic mixed in, along with various spices in the brine.

Heavenly, simply Heavenly.

Patriot, My stomach is growling right now!! I love garlic and onions, and to have them mixed in with olives! Sounds divine!! (Although, I would have to breath through a respirator for a week, or else knock my co-workers over with my breath!)

Somewhat briny - I often crave an escabeche with BIG carrot chunks, THICK rings of onions and lots of WHOLE cloves of garlic. Hard to find 'em like that. mmmmmmm...

CommuterKat, don't worry about the garlic breath. You'll be able to truly seperate the men from the boys. LOL

P.S. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a pickle waiting for me in the fridge.

To steal from Arlo - "I don't want a pickle, just want to ride my bicycle".
