BMX - ADVICE new bike...

I posted a thread awhile ago on this but didnt get a good response... anyways

I currently have a GT Performer maybe 2000 series..... its heavy and bulky for me .... i cant even bunny hop on it

im only 5'2 im 14 years old and i love biking ... i can bunnyhop high on light bikes and stuff so i know i can do it. I ride DIRT and a little street... and when i use my GT performer i just dont feel comfortable with it and stuff... i cant do much on it. im looking for a LIGHT bike for me, so i can rip up these dirt jumps around here ( they are 4ft with a nice lip and i think this is good for me.. and i know the guy who made them hes "pro good" and stuff so i know jumps are fine). i still cant clear the gap on it and i always fall and i keep trying and still havent gotten it... so does anyone have tips ... All my friends tell me its my bike... its so heavy compared to everyone elses bike that i know. i want a light bike where i can bunnyhop on and kill these jumps on ! Please dont tell me to continue practicing cause i cant do anything on this bike its heavy as hell i know i can do things on my friends light bikes ... i just need advice for picking a good one for me.

whats the weight? rather than buying a new bike, why dont you lighten the frame?

You could also look at a racing bike if you aren't going to grind almost at all... or at all.

They are almost always lighter, but they are definitely weaker than freestyle bikes.

Like I said, if you are concerned about weight then get a racing bike and do NOT grind or ride street on it.

The Free Agent Expert ($320.00 on www.danscomp.com) offers a 19 inch top tube which is a little bit more appropriate for your height and is only 22 pounds. No pegs, you aren't grinding. If you need to spin your bars, you can get a gyro, or just a long brake cable.

the nyquist series are always good for jumpin, not the r1 and r2 but the other ones are, i think u should just buy a bike with a good crmo frame and one that weighs about 32 pounds and practice alot jk

ya i am thinking about getting a 2004 model of the GT performer. but i dont know how much they weigh? could anybody tell me

my friend has a gt performer and its one of the heavisest bikes i hav evr ridden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi, I have an old Haro backtrail x2 that is all messed up. I'm looking for a new bike for dirt jumps. I am 5'2''.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

Would a Hoffman Rythm 18'' be good for dirt jumps?

Read my response above - a racing bike is designed to be used on dirt and will serve you very well even if you don't race. I use a bmx racing bike for some street riding and it's awesome. It's like 29 pounds and fairly strong. Not overbuilt at all.

I have a haro group 1 and don't race anymore,but it handles dirt jumping pretty well and is hella light! Only thing you may want to change are the rims on a race bike for a little bit sturdier setup.
