Charity Events - Does anyone know of any 2010 Michigan/Ohio rides for Autism?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm looking to ride in a couple of 50-100 mile rides this year, and I would love to participate in one to benefit an Autism Society, or other group. Does anyone know of one within driving distance (even overnight depending on venue) of the Detroit area?
Thanks, Rob

Hello Rob,
This may interest you : http://www.lets-ride.com/event/Ride-for-Autism.Southfield-Michigan.14836.htm. Not sure if you can sign up currently but it seems to be rather close to you. Way to support a great cause!

I checked out your link, and that's a motorcycle ride.
thanks, Rob

You could always get a couple people together and try to organize something. Nothing like taking the initiative to show you care.
If you do Id probably be interested in showing up.

Well, I was kind of thinking of that for the future, if I can't find one. However, I've never been on an organized ride, and I was hoping to experience a couple before I would even dare to try that on my own. I plan to go on a couple of rides this summer, and see what they're like, and what's involved. I'd like one of them to be a Century ride. I was hoping to find one that was a benefit for Autism (our 6 year old is high-functioning PDD). My wife has done some volunteer work for the Michigan Walk for Autism, but as the name implies that's a walk (and a short one), and I'm looking for a bike related activity.
Either way, I'll do some kind of ride this year.
