My '68 Motobecane has a pump umbrella on it with 'AFA 1' engraved on it, and a five-pointed, star shaped opening in the umbrella.

What kind of pump is supposed to go in it?

I remember those well, and had them on several of my bikes, before frame-fit pump heads became fashionable. I think your "umbrella" can accommodate a wide variety of pumps, including many with frame fit handles. The best period-correct pump for you is probably a Silca with a Campag. head; I doubt you want to go back to the old days of detachable hoses and flimsy aluminum tubes, as on Peugeot's original equipment Zefals and AFAs.
