Not much info. I ride that intersection on occasion. It's a bit of a pain. Lombardy is one of the few streets in the city with a bike lane (about a mile of it) and the lane ends/begins at that intersection. Sort of a "bike lane to nowhere". Much would depend on which way the vehicles were travelling, frankly, and I can't figure out squat from the article.

There is a "witness", but that could be anyone from a passenger in the SUV to a passerby, so who knows.

That's bad news. That intersection is on my route. The article states that the cyclist ran a red light. Tough lesson to learn.

Article is an understated masterpiece of accident reporting. Brook basically runs east/west, Lombardy north/south, yet article has both parties traveling north. Earlier reports mentioned a witness, was it the driver or a passenger in the car? No mention. Helmets are of course mentioned, perhaps to cast further blame on the cyclist, while what injuries actually killed him are not mentioned. Did he just have head injuries or something more?

Aside from knowing this is half arsed, lazy reporting, it's hard to tell much of anything from this article.
