Hello!

I am building a 2003 Bianchi Axis. Will the owners of these bicycles kindly recommend compatible headsets for this frame? I would REALLY appreciate it, the bike is almost complete and this is the question that has plagued the project.

ALSO, will Bianchi Axis owners please describe their front derailleur systems regarding the top-pull/bottom pull dilemma for cross bikes? The frame came with a Sugino compact double crankset, I have a Shimano LX top-pull derailleur an 10-speed 105 levers. Is this an acceptable combination?

Thanks very much for any input you may have!

Regards!

Bikepedia shows that the bike originally came with a top pull fd. My '02 came with a top pull fd. So you should be fine installing the top pull fd that you have.

My '02 has a standard 1-1/8" threadless headset. It looks like your'03 has the same. So pretty much any standard threadless headset will work. You cannot run an integrated headset. You can buy a Chris King one if you want the defacto standard, but they are $$.
