We have somehow ended up with son #1's Jack Russel terrier, Lola, until June 1st.
She barks incessantly, which is why he had to quickly relocate her until he moves. Now, we are "big" dog kind of people - currently have 2 GSD's - and this little yapper is driving us nuts after 1.5 days.... never mind that the younger GSD really really really wants Lola for a snack.:lol:

Hopefully, farm life will tire her out, and she will not feel the need to bark ALL night long after we put her in the garage - can't have her in the same room as the younger GSD (Zoe) at this point. Zoe's been on the run-line all day, and is not happy, but we aren't willing to let her eat up Lola at this point.... maybe on Sunday.

Treat the JRT like a big dog and get him in the mix. My inlaws have a seriously spoiled miniature poodle that we have to watch. He used to be yappy and annoying. Now he acts like a proper dog when he's with us.

Aside from a training regimen to adjust his attitude, PITA behavior got him tossed in the back yard with dogs 5-10 times his size that interpreted his psychotic behavior as an invitation to play or set the pecking order straight if they found him tiresome. If you can get the younger Shep to the point that she won't tear him to bits, she'd be the perfect playmate.

Those things are for lazy people that can't keep their dogs quite by simply training them to obey an order.

effective solution turned out to be bath time. no matter how big the dog, being covered with shampoo puts the low-down on attitude. they're all in the house drying out now.

unfortunately, JRT is "pad trained" (HEY!! if you can't walk your dog, don't GET one!!!), so it's back to the garage for the little one.
