As requested by Mr. Pcad,It's a hockey playoff thread this week. Our Bluejackets are out as usual.
Will anybody be able to stop the Evil "Ove" and the Capitals?

I'm hoping the Redwings are one and done for starters. We've had enough of them to last us awhile.

We're the farm team(Lake Erie Monsters)here in Cleveland for the Avs.They also did not make the AHL playoffs.

We had the farm team for the Avs a few years back (Hershey Bears). So a few of the names are familiar :)

Ya,that was pretty cheap.
"Miller Time" will still pull the series together for the Sabres. You've got to admire the tenacity of this guy for his short NHL career.

You know Barry Melrose's saying about playoff time?
"The team who can play through the most injuries will win."

I will do my best to cheer for, in this order

the canadian teams
when/if they get wiped out
the most canadian american team (ironically, I betcha most american teams have more canadians the canadian teams)
and if all else fails...
the most violent team

if two "euro" type teams make it, I will cheer for the refs to screw the pooch...

I hope the residents of Columbus hide and heel you to a barn door and put a redwing tattoo on your forehead.

Phoenix now lead the series against Detroit 2-1(looks like I'll get my first wish).
Classless fans at Joe Lewis today at the end as the hometown lumps get spanked.

Heh. I'm grandfathered in. I was a Wings fan like ten years before Columbus even thought about getting an NHL team. I do root for the Jackets as long as they aren't playing Detroit. I want them to do well for the city. And even though Canada won the gold, I think it's awesome that Rick Nash got to bring a gold medal to Columbus.

You're correct. You need to buy season tickets for your own NFL team in Vancouver, but would you have enough felons to fill the roster up there?Your football fields are 10yds. longer so the average player would want an extra $300,000 per year:).There is also the language barrier to consider.
What amazes me is that the Browns still maintain many season ticket holders while consistently putting out a bad product for the last 10 years. They contribute nothing to the betterment of this s--t hole of a city(Cleveland) except to raise our property taxes(the whole county) to build a new stadium most of us can't afford to attend.

NHL players start their sport at age 5-6 years, have a much lower rate of mental/behavior issues, and are more consistent in their skills.Better investment for my entertainment fund. The Hockey Arena District in Columbus has prospered as well as the surrounding businesses and this is a lower ranked team.

Language?...does everyone speak spanish or something :p

And I would LOVE to see our fields reworked to nfl sizes, don't forget 12 yards wider...damn field...f-ing huge. And most of the length diff is in the end zone...I hate watching end zone passes. Horrible fields.

Ya I saw that, lazy ass goalie. Obviously the goalie was not doing his primary job, watching the puck. In this case it is 2 peoples fault, although the goal scorer will get ridden into retirement.

But you know what they say, throw the puck at the net and you will eventually score. :)

And Dan Boyle is a great d-man! I can only hope that the Sharks decide to have a fire sale when they get eliminated and get rid of him at 10cents to the dollar(that's US dollars!). Then my Devils can pick him up to replace the sorry lot they got there now. It's bad enough to lose, but to lose to the Flyers really sucks!

Lighten up on the Cannucker% in hockey.Yes things are changing but hockey is now an international sport that the US has majority stock in.
I have one in the family now, whats a father to do,you can't avoid them, the border is left open all day.I always viewed Canada as sort of our 51 state that likes beer and snow cones.

Back to the game:
Clevelands homeboy,Mike Rupp(Pens),is rostered in Ottawa tonight to make sure the boys mind their manners in the capital city of the Great White North.Safe to say Pens intend to take 3 wins and traditional odds are no one recovers after 3 losses.

Not to get back on this subject again, but Canadians don't consider ourselves the 51st state, so we tend to jump bandwagons to whichever Canadian teams are left in the playoffs, if our local team gets eliminated. I don't think this has anything to do with the whole "Our sport" thing, it's not like Canadian teams have only Canadian players. Same reason I tend to think of Toronto as my local basketball team, when probably half the teams in the league are closer, geographically, and I don't think there's a single Canadian on that team.

*edit - nevermind, I see the part of the original comment that you were referring to - I agree with you... I'm oversensitive up here because we're down 2-1... sorry aboot that.
