View Full Version : Tri Shoes for LD?

So, I ordered a pair of triathlon shoes "by accident," because I didn't realize they were tri-specific until after I did it.

However, besides liking the color better than my alternative, I feel like they will be not just "fine" but might even work better for me. They have additional ventilation, which will be great for me in Summer, or for riding in rain.

I've searched all over BF and the only real drawbacks mentioned are in the road forum, where they talk about sprinting or climbing out of the saddle. I tend to do neither.

So, I'm thinking this is a non-issue, but am I missing anything?

I know a batch of people that ride LD with sandals. Like you say, I'm guessing you'll be fine.

Sandals, huh? Yeah, I'm probably good, then.

Men should never wear sandals. On or off the bike. I'm still on the fence with women and sandals. :p

There's a few up here like that. I was floored when I did my first 300k last year and realized that the woman I was struggling to keep up with was cruising along in a pair of SPD sandals and wool socks.

I don't see any issue with those Lake shoes. Some tri-specific shoes are really minimalist and have a very low looking heel cup, almost like a rock climbing slipper. I don't think a pair like that looks comfortable for any type of riding. But those Lakes are comfortable looking shoes.
