Brakes. I installed an old pair of centerpull bicycle brakes on a skateboard.

That really has little to do with bikes, but it's a cool piece of work anyway. One question that bothers me: What happens when you hit the brakes hard on a skateboard at speed? Seems like a recipe for a launch.

Where's the lever mounted, or is it held? Please show more.

The brake handle is mounted on a short piece of an old handlebar. The cable is like 3 foot six inches or so. This skateboard is still sitting in the basement, where there is a water condition, so it is well rusted-the brakes need a new cable.
The skateboard trucks are very old, and not what anyone would want to ride (oddly, they only have three mounting screws holding them to the board.)
I wanted to show how the calipers are reversed; the brake pads rub against the wheel surface.

I stopped using this skateboard because the wheels wear out from the friction of the brake pads.

The brakes are on the rear truck of the board, so it doesn't "launch" the rider.

Anyway, I wanted to show how it is possible to mount bicycle brakes on a skateboard. I have seen something similar on a pair of roller-blades .

And I think this does have something to do with bikes- I used bicycle brakes in this project. If I had used automobile brakes, I wouldn't have posted it here.
