Bicycle Mechanics - Klein Quantum Pro early 90's stem replacement

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have an early 90's Klein Quantum Pro with an integrated stem, Dura-ace, and I love this bike. However, the stem is a 90 and I'd like an 80 cm. I read somewhere that the stem can be replaced with a threadless stem, but my LBM asked me to find out about converting so as to use a regular stem. Any ideas on conversion or where I might look to find the Klein intregrated stem/headpiece in an 80 that was only made for a year or two? Thanks. I'm 1 hour east of San Francisco. There is no Klein website anymore so no instruction manuals available.
No ideas in either direction. Looks like they had some problems with some early ones http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:US5A4iNhTTcJ:www.trekbikes.com/pdf/recalls/96_klein_stem_recall.pdf+Klein+Quantum+Pro&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESgI2VzIE6Wt6YdGpA7fvuh6SazvmIHq_yo3ToaLZSXSlGyrQjOKTc9XkvexXatPNJQqNjFqHGn-w8A5iZkLpMLaaFEL9-xF9yvRbC85IMMt-YNmpbDxpGYVRnjZLb-wOkRoIHb4&sig=AHIEtbQNnWEIo2KR1Ek_khxdAzoYfj-PFw

maybe this technical manual (http://www.kleinjapan.com/tech_guide/pre97_klein_tech_manual.pdf) will help.
