Texas - Where would you move?

long time lurker here,

I am a dentist looking to buy a dental practice here in NorthEast Tarrant County. Before making such a big purchase I was wondering, are there any better places to work/live?

If you were to open a small business in our great state, where would you do it? I need a community that is growing enough to support another dentist. I personally don't know of a lot of areas in the state that are growing, and need your help. Great biking in the area would certainly be a plus. I'm a roadie, but don't mind hitting the trails every once in a while.

Not in Tarrant county but the only place i know that has grown a ridiculous amount is in Collin county, the Frisco/Prosper area. I lived in this area most of my life until moving away to college in 2001, since then it's gone from 1 gas station in Prosper and 1 lane roads in Frisco to toll roads, overpasses, and annoyingly overcrowded. So crowded I avoid the 2 cities at all costs...Some really good roads with big shoulders...if a huge truck's side mirrors don't hit you, but hopefully by now there aren't as many hillbillies and rednecks.

I think the border area between Frisco/Plano around the 121 area is still developing.

not growing??? the whole state is one of the fast growth areas of the country, with DFW leading the way.

spend some time with dfwmaps.com and the related nctcog website; they have many maps and forecasts showing expected growth for the entire North Texas area.

but here's the flip side: growth around here is characterized by those nice country roads that we love to ride, getting filled up with cars from all the new subdivisions, then torn up for construction.

Keller would be my hands down choice.... lots of nice (hilly) places to ride, great cycling community, lots of group rides and super nice area. :-)

My kids are in college up in Denton right now, and that seems like a pretty decent place. There's enough college kids on bikes that you can just ride around town without being an oddball, and then you're that much closer to the open country when you do go out riding any distance.

I just moved from that area. The city of Denton has alot of traffic and too many one way streets, roads aren't in that great of shape (especially in residential areas)... although they are attempting to be more cycling friendly by adding bike lanes etc. Areas east and north are cycling meccas (Aubrey to Pilot Point) and you can take 377 all the way to the Oklahoma border and back (100+ mile round trip). Really nice and quite hilly.
