I bought some chain and some cable to make a set of tire chains, but I have a problem. I dont know how to connect the two pieces of cable.
What I mean is in this picture, it shows a barrel type thing that is threaded. I need something like that but have no idea where to get one. I cant think of any other way to attach the opposite ends.

I also thought of making a loop on one end and then a small hook of some kind, but there would be no adjustability.
Thanks for any help in advance

hmm...i wouldn't have a clue?
Please excuse my ignorance as I am from Sunny (sometimes) Florida. But what are those things? They look like the chain thingies that they used to put on motorcycle racing on the ice tracks. Fill me in.
Caveat: I've never seen these in person, I'm just going by the picture.
You might find a joiner nut that's small enough diameter for the female part, and then the male part is just a machine screw. The problem will be how to join the nut with the cable; it's going to have to be able to spin on the cable so that you can tighten it. PERHAPS you could get a cable with a ball end which would fit inside the joiner nut, then bore a cable-sized hole lengthwise down a matching screw, then cut off a bit of the screws, and secure it with the hardest gripping loc-tite you can get (or epoxy) - that would secure the cable but let it spin.
The male end looks like it's just swaged onto the cable. That's OK, you only need one spinning part.
Also when tightening, I've read that you need to deflate the tire, get the chains tight, then re-inflate.
