I' planning on riding from my house in Cupertino to Marina next Saturday and am looking for recommendations on good bike routes through the town of Watsonville. I plan to ride into Corralitos via Eureka Canyon Rd. Previously from Corralitos I've biked down to Freedom Blvd. and turned left but can't recall how I got through town. My old copy of "Roads to Ride" mentions Amesti Road. The book was printed in '85 so a lot may have changed since then.

Any suggestions?

The last time I looked, Amesti wasn't passable. You could take a left on Varni, just before Freedom. Or, after heading left from the end of Eureka Canyon, take a left onto Browns Valley (Amesti would be to the right), which becomes Hazel Dell, which becomes Mount Madonna and ends at Casserly, with Casserly Market on the right. Take Casserly to 152. Heading right on 152 goes into Watsonville. Crossing 152, the road becomes Carleton, which merges with 129. On the right, you can take Murphy Crossing over the Pajaro River to San Juan Road. From there, San Miguel Canyon Road and Strawberry Road will get you to Elkhorn Road.
