View Full Version : Pro cycling Babe-i-tude

Who are the finest examples of babe-itude in pro cycling? This doesn't just apply to the women, men can be babes, too, I'm told -- though I don't think I'm qualified to judge? But who are the major babes?

I'm kind of partial to Rasa and Jolanta Polikeviciute -- they're twins, so there's a toss-up -- as well as Silvia Parietti and Lesley Tomlinson. I would be thrilled to ride in their draft, even though i don't delude myself that I could hold their wheels for more than a few seconds... if that...

My favorite has to be Sari Jorgensen the swiss downhiller!!:D http://membres.lycos.fr/sarijorgensen/img/sari20.JPG

Here's one from the World Championships. That's Rasa Polikeviciute with her hand up:

http://www.grahamwatson.com/2001/worlds/worlds4/womenrr/image10.jpg

Unfortunately, not all her pictures are great. Like most redheads, she doesn't always come out on film as well as she does on video. Same for Lesley Tomlinson -- also a redhead -- though there is a calendar photo of her somewhere that is quite something. :)

I'm looking for Silvia Parietti's picture. Since Gas Sport got a new sponsor, I haven't been able to find their Web site...

LAdies? Any contributions?

I've got to argue over Anne Caroline. Definitely NOT HOT!

Missie the Missile - Too Freaky for me, but if you dig that, she's all yours.

Sari - yeah, she's hot!

I personally like: oh crap, I can't think of her name. She used to race DH for Specialized, now races for Yeti. Come on guys help me out! Tara Llanes! That's it!

I don't have a pic, but I've always liked her!

There are more, but I'm name brain dead today!

Yep, that's her, I love her smile! Plus she rides better than most guys I know (a whole lot better than me!). Maybe she could give me private lessons!

I am not sure of the spelling, but Paola Pezzo
Shes HOT I think. I believe she retired last year. She used to ride for Gary Fisher/SAAB.

So, is Corine Dorland really a pro, or is she kind of the Anna Kournikova of mountain biking?

Alison Dunlap, not because she's hot or anything like that. She's just cool. http://sumtercap.homestead.com/files/inthenews_dunlap5_1.gif

Alison is one of my favorites also...mostly because she rode for GT

I actually got to see her ride in the Cyclocross Nationals here in KC in 2000, that was a great experience.

Velocipedio,

You have like, hit a gusher.

There is some serious babitude in this thread!

(I have searched the web desperately for a French woman cycling champion from about 100 years ago, but to no avail...her name eludes me. All I remember is her photograph on her bike in black bloomers and cute curly black hair. :) )

Well done to Astra for finding the babe of the moment..

Actually, my responses have all been covered already!

I really liked the pictures though. Wow. It's cool to see women with such nice muscles...ones that actually get used.

An interesting article on
Ms Streb:

There's obviously a lack of women specific cycling clothes out there.

I nominate the Mother Superior of Triathletes:

"Sister Madonna Buder, competing in her 11th Subaru Ironman
Canada also bettered her own mark in the 70+ age group. Buder
finished the 2001 event in 14:46:21, topping her own mark from the year before by almost 50 minutes. Buder holds the age group
records at Subaru Ironman Canada in three different age divisions (60-64, 65-69 and 70+), an amazing feat."

Buder is so good that she routinely beats the men in her age group. "I don't know how many men out there just seem to focus on me," she says. "I'm like their carrot on the stick. It's like they got to get her, got to get her. They just don't want to lose to the nun."

[... particularly after her serious crash in a 2000 ironman.]

It figures the pinnacle of babe-i-tude would already be married!
