Actually I just got back from Killington. My friend decided it would be for the best, seeing as niether of us had ever done that kind of riding. But killington was the best riding Ive ever done, hands down. There was this one steep singletrack that people had built jumps on, we both nailed them, got about 5 ft. of air off the biggest. I was surprised how much room there was for a landing, considering it was single track. HOWEVER, I will now probably be off of my bike for about 2 weeks, after I Faceplanted on a rock. We were headed down this really steep trail, which came out at a dirt road that led uphill a ways. we were losing a lot of speed for the uphill, so I tried to cut across a rock field to get to the hill sooner, but as I entered it my front tire hit a deep gully in one of the rocks. I was going about 25mph when I went over the bars , so I didn't even have time to put my hands down. I took the blow almost 100% to my mouth, and me helmet is not full face. My forehead and nose are scratched badly, two of my teeth went through my lips, and got knocked loose, I have 3 large cuts on my right leg, and 2 of my fingers are broken at the joints, 1 of them was dislocated. Unfortunatly none of these injuries can be treated, they all have to heal on thier own. at least i was able to walk away from it, not ride though. Im lucky I didnt break my jaw, some hikers who saw the fall were amazed that I didn't. it sucks a lot, and I can't do eat that easy or do very much, but it was all more than worth it for the ride before.

Me and some of my friends have wanted to go to Killington for a while now, It's nice to know it'll be worth the drive when we do get out there. That sucks about the injury though.

 ouch. man, i hope you heal up quick.

i'm reminded of that episode of drop in season 1 where the guy face plants and gets the inside of his bottom lip all scraped up...

cameraman: "any words of advice?"
guy sitting in hospital bed waiting to get cleaned up: "two words. full-faced helmet."

Sorry to hear about that man. I told ya to go to snow. LOL. I had my first big crash at Snow on Thursday. Wasn't to fun. I would have messe dup my jaw a little. My advice is get yourself a full-face, for f*ck sake. Hope you heal quick man. Then go hit up snow.

Lemme know what trails you rode on. Especially the one you ate ____ on. I remember most of them. Ask me if you want to know some sweet trails to hit up at snow.

Tahnks guys, I'll be back on my bike hopefully by september 20th. My birthday is the 26th, so Im going back to killington on that saturday, then Im going to Snow on sunday. Okay, Foxrider, the trail that I mainly rode was 1 from the gondola, connecting to 7, rode that to the intersection of 22 and 13, took 13 to the bottom where it connected to 10, 10 came out right in front of the gondola. 13 was the best singletrack Ive ever ridden. it had lots of roots, decent dropoffs, a few logrides, and it was littered with jumps on the last stretch. 13 was the hardest trial I rode, but it wasnt where I tanked it. there is an intersection on trail 7 a little ways after passing under the gondola where you can either go downhill and connect to 20, or ride uphill and continue on 7. (7 turns into singletrack right after this uphill, and there is a delapidated tool shed on the right of the trail) we were screaming down 7 right before the turn to go uphill, and I took a shortcut across this weeded area instead of losing speed by going the long way around and staying on trail 7. After turning off the trail, there was a huge granite rock which had been badly eroded by water, and when I pulled my wheel up to miss the first gully in the rock, my tire landed in the second gulley, the bigger of the 2. Instantly I was over the bar, headfirst into the rock. I have no idea how I broke my fingers, all I could focus on was my face. The mountain paramedics think that upon impact 3 of my finges split away from my thumb and pointer finger, cuasing the tendons to be stretched, dislocating them, and breaking my ring and pinky fingers at the joint. It sounds worse than it really is, but the point is that it hurt a lot. hopefully my fingers will mostly heal up over 3 weeks, at least enough to go riding again.

Okay six6one. I got my Killington Map infront of me. Yes 7 was a great trail with some uphill. But first off did you get to hit up 2,3,4,5 and 6. They are all on the left side of the mountain. (from the maps view) Those, if I remember, have some GREAT single track. 6 was a very fun trail. As well as 2-5. 13 was a great trail as well. The climb up 7 was worth it. Did you ever get to that trail with the two log rides?

Anyways, lemme know when your going to hit up snow (sounds like the 27th). If thats not the weekend I'm racing I'll try to get up there and we can ride together. (I'm not a super star rider, in fact I suck. Just want some riding buddy's. It will most likely be me and two friends. I had forgotten before when I was talking about Killington (a dif thread) But yes there is some great singletrack. And two log rides which were fun. I'll have to get out and ride with you some time. If you hit up snow on a weekend make sure to play around on there Mountain X course.

Peace.

You guys know there is this thing called PMs where you can send each other email type thingos in private without starting pointless threads and making people who dont want to read it read it. Phew. Just thought i'd let you know for future use.

I'm sorry, nowhere in the guidelines does it say all users are required to read every single thread. And I want to let anyone else who is interested in going to these places know what its all about.

Unfortumatly I did not get to hit any of the trails on the left side of killington, I was going to but I took the fall before I could, and that made me give up 3 hours of ride time. I wish I had though, they sound fun from your description. I did ride the trail with the two log rides though, I believe that the first log was on trail 13, and the second one was where 13 connected to 12. The second log was easy, the first one was a little slippery, even with those shingles nailed to it.

Some of the sections on 2-6 were picture perfect. It looked like some of the single track over at British Columbia. :)

Any other good mountains to bike?

Yea, any of the mountains up in Vermont, I can only really reccomend killington because its the only one I have ridden. I also know that snow is great, based on what Foxrider said, and I cant imangine any of the other mountains that allow biking not being worth it. I know Jay Peak does mountain biking and I think Stowe might, but those two are way up near Canada. Id say give killington and Snow a try.
