Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Looking to buy a folding bike with an IGH. Not looking to spend a whole lot. $400-ish sounds about right.
I'm looking at the Citizen Barcelona. Anyone have any experience with this bike?
Any other $400-ish IGH folders? 3spd is all I need. More gears would be nice, but not necessary.

Dahon Curve when they are on sale at performance Bike. Or check Craigslist in your area. I just purchased a Dahon MuXl with a 8 speed hub and it shifts like butter.

Thanks, that CL one is a very good deal.
Unfortunately, its in Ft. Collins and I don't exactly own a car. Maybe I can bum a ride up there or something...

See if they ever get your way. Can you take a bus there?

Try advertising on Craigslist with your own "Wanted to Buy Ad" as someone may have one laying around un-used waiting for a buyer. You also may post a "wanted Ride To Denver Ad" as well. They do it all the time here on CL Miami.

You should rent or borrow a car and go look at this bike. I think they are selling new for $600+ now, you might be able to get it for less than $400.
From the pics it looks like an 08 model that hasn't even been ridden enough to wear the anodizing off the braking surfaces on the rims; in other words, almost brand new.
The Vitesse is a very nice bike, I've been putting a lot of miles on mine lately.
I've had four bikes with Shimano Nexus 7-speed hubs and it's my favorite IGH by far, it shifts well under load, the gears are nicely spaced, it's easy to adjust, there's no outboard click box to damage and it almost never skips. I would rank the Nexus 7 right up there with the best Sturmey 3-spd IGHs.

Here is a new one and the price includes shipping. According to Thor, it is the last one at that price:

I think www.thorusa.com (http://www.thorusa.com) has one 2008 Vitesse D7HG left for $525 delivered. See:
http://www.thorusa.com/dahon/2008/vitessed7.htm The new bike from ThorUSA will have a full warranty, but it's >$100 more. :)

I see Abio bikes are on sale at $550 - not sure if that includes shipping. 4-speed IGH and belt drive to boot.

yes. get it from thorusa. it might be $100 more but you will get an excellent customer service. also thor's vitesse is brand new so worth the extra money.

not to sway you away from abio and not to downgrade the bike itself but it's better to get one from a reputable company. abio's just started making bikes and remember that this is the version 1. although i heard some good reviews...in the end it's your decision. we're here to give you inputs only.

Thanks for all the kudos :-)
The used bike should have the recal done ...
http://www.thorusa.com/dahon/recall.pdf
if not, its not the end of the world as every Dahon dealer will do that for you, but its extra runing around for sure.... and black handleposts are hard to find these days ..lol
Maybe you can print the recall out and get a better deal from the used one......

I actually ended up picking up an old 80s U-Framed Peugeot folding bicycle with the SA AW 3spd hub off of craigslist. Its gonna need a bit of work, but it'll be fun.
Need a longer seat post for it before I can ride it... Gonna have to find my calipers as the seat post doesn't have any markings for diameter on it.
Otherwise its in good shape.
