I just upgraded my Mavic Open Pro wheels to Mavic Ksyrium Elite. The move was more because I thought they looked cool and because I couldn't resist the appeal of a used pair for $150. After some truing and recentering (rear wheel) I gave them a shot this morning on a 25 miler.
I am riding a 2000 Bianchi XL EV2 (aluminum) and was expecting a rougher ride because the wheels are semi-aero, so probably stiffer than the Open Pros. I am using the same set of tires (Michelin Carbon) with same pressure.
As expected they track super well, the difference is very noticeable on downhills. I have never felt so safe going fast downhill, simply amazing.
The biggest surprise was the ride quality: Super smooth. I just couldn't believe the difference. Is it me, or have you notice such an enhanced ride quality riding Ksyriums in comparision to the Open Pros?
AND THEY LOOK COOL!!!
