Here's pic of what my Stumpjumper looks like with 1inch tires on it, if anyone might be interested.
There's also a picture of smaller 26 X 1.0-1.5 tubes next to the old tubes I took out, which needs to be taken into account that that was all the flatter I could get them, and they might be thorn resistant tubes, I forget, wish I could squish them flatter, I did remove the schrader valve and rolled the tire flat towards the valve.
I pumped them up to about 105-110, the tires says go 120.
Going to leave them overnight, check them in the morning and take a spin, should be nice.
Next mods are a brooks saddle and cane creek bar ends. If you noticed it has ODI bolt on grips NICE
I had been running 1.5 Specialized armadillos Nimbus and never had a flat in 4 years, I replaced them because they were weather checked and had a LOT of miles on em.
Vintage Stumpjumper fans might also dig this bike, I bought it new, I think it's a 91.

In case anyone searches in the future

26" 1" MTB tires fit
26 1 mountain small
26 inch 1 inch

Thanks for the pix! My late 80's rockhopper will get a similar treatment next summer for commuting. With the way the weathers been though, and winter coming soon, I opted to put my 26x2.1's back on last night. I forgot how nice they ride LOL.
