Mountain Biking - New member here. First post. Hi folks.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Interesting forum.
I am taking a couple classes at the local junior college, and I noticed that I seem to be the only person in my classes who rides a bike to class. Funny thing, I thought more college kids would want to bike to save money, and have fun getting to class.
The number of cars competing for limited parking spaces is enormous. Biking is so much nicer. Too bad so few people are doing it around here. There is a sprinkling of bikes around campus , and thousands of cars.

Welcome to the forum.
I was the same way in college. I became pretty well known for packing my winter cycling gear through the college to class. Parking was hell but finding a locker to stash all my cycling gear proved impossible some semesters too.
I admit I did get lazy for a time when I'd hitch a ride with my room-mate in his Black 93 Jeep Renegade. It took me a while to realize that the women weren't looking at me personally when we passed them in that jeep.
Hi Miraco,
welcome to the forums...what bike do you ride?
You'll meet a nice bunch of folks in here, so enjoy!

Welcome to the forums :)
The College I work at has barely a handful of staff who cycle in on a reasonably regular basis, but we get a few more in Summer.
Richard
Welcome,
Where are you located?
:)
In reply--
I live in Santa Cruz. The junior college I ride to is Cabrillo College in Aptos, about 4 miles away.
I ride two bikes:a nice raleigh touring bike, and a rusty, old Bridgestone touring bike. They are set up in a nearly identical fashion. I like having a spare bike handy. My set -up for carrying cargo is a box on the back rack.
There is no snow here, and most of the roads are pretty good. That's why I'm puzzled by the relative infrequency of bicyclists.
So, where are you folks from?
Cool,
I'm in the UK at the moment, working for City University in London as an administrator...
It's a good excuse to surf Bikeforums from my secret location..:)

Hey Miraco! Welcome to the forums. I'm relatively new too. Well, don't worry, like NOBODY where I live bikes! Well, actually, I take that back, I've seen a lot of other mountainbikers on the trails... but then again where else would you see them? Yeah... but it's just weird because whenever me and my friend go biking... the people in the cars that go by us look at us funny! They like do a double check. It's weird! They think that we're weird or something! Oh well, I guess you'll get used to it. If I lived in a nice weathered area like you, I would be biking a whole lot more. Today was reeeeally nice, but unfortunately I had to go to the orthodontist instead. It really sucked! But welcome to the forums!
Welcome to the forums. You'll find this is a co-ed colony of bikers from all over the globe. A lot of interesting people and you'll find they are givers of good advice (most of the time) and fun to be with (most of the time) and full of encouragement (all of the time.)
