Commuting - More fussing with the new bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just can't leave my fingers off this bike. Last night I checked the front wheel bearings, plenty of grease but too much pre load on the bearings so I loosened them up a bit now they roll like butta same with the headset. It was set a bit too tight, plenty of grease just too much preload on the bearings, took care of that. Got the brakes where I want them with the new koolstops and checked the rear wheel bearings, they were good, roll for ever, should be a better ride tomorrow. This kind of stuff is taken care of when you buy a new bike from your LBS. I knew going in that buying from BD was gonna mean I have to do it. Its been fun to see and experience all the improvements in this bike since I've done the set up on it. Ordered Panaracer Pasela TG's and a bike computer they should be here by the end of the week but its gonna be a crazy weekend so I doubt I'll get that stuff taken care of till next week sometime. Gonna post some more pic when I get it all set up.

No, it's not. You'll fuss over your bike wherever you bought it from, if you're like me ;)
Whenever I get a new toy (bike, motorcycle, car, whatever) I fuss over it incessantly. The fussing and accessory buying goes down with time, and enjoyment goes up inversely to the fussing. It's a process, it just takes time. I think it's getting used to the fact that nothing you own will ever be perfect forever; when you accept this you can really start enjoying it.

The real fun is feeling the difference in the ride this morning on my way to work after doing the adjustments, Its a completely different bike. Rolls like a dream and the headset wasn't stiff feeling like it was at first. Brakes stop on a dime and leave nine cents change. I can never leave well enough alone I just gotta get my hands in there to see if I can improve it somehow.
