This is something I would expect from my witch ex wife, some of my sisters, definitely my brother the ex convict. But my mother?

We have a duplex unit down in PR that's family owned. My mom lived on one side and I lived on the other. When I left, I didn't wanted to sell my car but mom had no intentions of renting my side of the duplex so I leave it there in the garage.

Every time I visit, I would test the car, give it a hug... I *loved* that car and I was waiting for the opportunity to ship it to Florida.

This was my first ever car loan. I paid that car for 5 years. During the first months, I had some financial difficulty and I got an extention. The bank took 3 payments and move them to the end of the list. Every year they would send my a little notebook with payment tickets. I pay them all. I never went to pick up my title, never needed it. Well, it turns out the bank "forgot" to add the 3 payments to the last notebook. And after so many years, I forgot about too. The bank now wants the money, or the car. I'm broke so I told them to pick up the car. They called me back, the car is not there.

WTF? My car? not there? Let me call my mom.

"oh yeah, I took it out of the garage and park it out on the street and it disappeared from there".

I said good by and hang up the call without asking for more information because I was really close to break the 5th commandment "Honor your father and mother".

Now I have a bank that wants the car or the money and I don't have either. Not to mention, god knows what criminal took the car and what crimes have been done with it, on my name.

I am very angry because I loved that car. But I'm more depressed because it was my mom who did this. I would have *never* expected something like this from my mom.

Agreed.....

YOu did still have insurance n it? Full coverage? If so, you're golden.

By the way, check the police impound, too. It may have just been towed.

How long ago did it disappear? If impounded, those fees are gonna be huge, if the car has not already been sold at auction as abandoned. Ruben, you and Razor need to start an accountability group, support each other as you deal with banks over financial matters that were ignored.

Please don't blame your mother. It doesn't seem her intention was to throw the car away. It was a victim of unfortunate circumstance.

But the fact of the matter is, you didn't pay the last three payments. That car was under lien and they have a right to either the payment or the car since they still legally own it. Gotta take care of loose ends, Ruben. Can't expect things to just 'happen' and be taken care of on its own.

oh, Ruben, grow up!!! This car meant SO much to you that you left it with Mommy for - how long?? You're an ADULT!! Take care of your OWN scrap metal!! Call the impound, pay the bank, and, if you want to park stuff in Mom's garage, PAY RENT.

I wonder - was the car in mom's garage to hide it from creditors? And once on the street it was merely repossesed?

Any anger towards mom is misplaced. She did nothing wrong. Get over yourself. ALREADY! enough! Although now I am beginning to think you just make stuff up to get a reaction. No one's life is this messed up. Geez, not even mine!!!

BTW I would never post this kind of stuff about myself. It's really no one's business and would only serve to make me look bad.

Could the car have already been repo'd? Maybe the bank doesn't want the car anymore if they already have it.

First keep in mind that I AM changing a few details to protect the identities of some of the involved (specially my mom). For example, there is no such thing as a "garage", down there people have "patios"... and both part of the unit are unoccupied, my mom in not living there at the moment. Her car is on her side's "garage"... anyway, keep the cheap shots to yourself.

I think I'm beginning to understand a what happened. See, that part of the duplex was fully furnished, with my car parked by the side. It was my fall back position. On my last PR visit, a family member that will remain unmentioned, asked me to give out my furniture. I said no, I needed my fallback position. Shortly after that, my part of the duplex had a "rodent infestation" and most of the furniture had to be thrown out. Some months happened, same individual wants my car, I said no and magically the car had a snakes problem. Mom woke up one day and found "over a hundred snakes" inside the car, had it moved away from the structure fearing the snakes could get inside the house....

Come on! A hundred snakes? overnight? in the middle of a major city?

It really gets more complicated but bottom line is, a family member stole the car and I have no option but to report it stolen. Somebody will end up with the short stick on this one, is not gonna be me and definitely is not gonna be my mom.

EDIT: In case you are wondering. I called many people today. The car was not repo'ed, not taken by the county as "trash", it is currently stolen... period. And also, for the record, I did had a roll of duct tape in the trunk. :S

He is now angry we misunderstood and went off on tangents.... duh, hello, past history!!! Now everything is OK and his anger at his mom in the original post... he just said that to protect what a cousin?

Now I think this guy is making it all up just to get attention.

Or he could be like my BF's sister... my BF generally states all her life she has been followed by the FU Fairy. She nevers does the right thing and then always gets angry at the result. I ought to introduce Ruben to the BF's sister... too peas in a pod!

Then again, Ruben may be a 16 year girl living in Ohio and making all this up!!!!

In the tropics people park their cars in open carports(no sides)to protect it from the sun(and anacondas:)).
Rubens car was obviously a"low rider"which presents a golden opportunity to car thieves in PR due to the high resale value.

It's a Puertorican house Siu. When it's "by the house" it means it was inside the property, inside the 7 foot fence with barbed wire on top... and the front towing hooks were chained to a long steel spike, anchored 6 feet under ground. Standard puertorican parking procedure for those in exile.

Let me picture it (forgive my drawing skills):

Was there a bag of "homegrown"in the car?

Crime has always been high in that part of the city. In my opinion due to:

1) Police chiefs are there for life, not elected by local vote, so they don't care.
2) Regular citizens can't own guns.
3) Criminals have AK-47's
4) Island is a major hub for international drug trafficking.
5) PR just sucks.

Isn't that the 4th Commandment?

Depends. Some churches pack the ones about God into three commandments; others use four. Some churches combine both Covets into one commandment; others break them out. Either way, it's still Ten Suggestions. Or Commandments. Whatever.

ARG... If you are not in <insert your favorite state/territory here>, dealing with government agencies is almost impossible. I've been trying to report the car stolen for 3 days straight now. Can you believe there are actual police officers there, working on the stolen vehicles division, that don't know what a VIN is?

I remember when one of my ex's was trying to get a birth certificate from her native Oklahoma. It was also a royal pain. Is it the same with every state?

The worst part is having to deal with the family BS. There are 3 mayor family divisions. On one side, the ones that don't give a darn. On 2nd side, the crack heads, criminals, ex-cons, etc. And on the 3rd side, the idiots who defend / make excuses for the 2nd group. I think I was adopted.
