Hi peeps

I was wondering whether campag c record pista chainrings were ever released without any campag branding on them? I've just bought a set of lovely cranks but the chainring has zero branding on it, the metal itself seems to match the finish on the cranks. just wondering if this is a legit Campag ring?

cheers

I may be wrong, but I'm assuming everything Campy ever made has a logo somewhere on it.

If it's a nice ring and it matches your sweet Campy cranks, don't even worry about it.

Do you have a pic?

All of my rings say "Brev. Campagnolo" Like this one:

Everything on Velobase.com shows Brev. Campagnolo, too.

Try the Classic and Vintage forum; lots of knowledgeable folks over there. They will tell you if you got ripped off or not. Be sure to provide good pictures.

Maybe it's TA or something. If it looks good don't worry about it.

Yup. Even chain ring bolts have "Campagnolo" on them.

That was my cute, non-threatening way of saying I'm certain. :innocent:

the newer ones have printed logos on the outside compared to the scrached ones...at least on the outside of the crank so they polish off

if they were branded, would you have known how to finish spelling "campagnolo?" :D

if they have that same iridescent finish on the chainrings, i've never seen anything NOT campy with that finish. not to say someone couldn't rip off the look, i'm not sure exactly how that finish is accomplished anyway.

There are a few copies out there. Here is one: http://www.velomine.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=87_116&products_id=506

Off-topic: I've often heard the bolts on chainrings referred to as stack bolts. Also, I've often seen chainring spelled as one word and not two. Does it matter one way or the other?

Yes, get it wrong and you are banned from the Campy Only forum and instead have to post on the "Hooked on Phonics Worked for Me" forum. You know, the one where everyone spells brakes as breaks and lose as loose, etc.

Bullhorns on this frame be alright with everyone?

As long as they're alight for you. The seat tube on that looks nice, would go well with some proper bullhorns.

hey peeps, thanks for the feedback, Yeah i don't think it's a campag chainring but im not too fussed ( i paid a fair price for the cranks with chain bolts)
I have since purchased a proper c record pista chainring which does have the breve campagnolo stamp on it.

bbattle: although bullhorns are not preferred personally, they will look neat with the s curve seattube.
