Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Conversions

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
They can go the other way, too!

There is a big dent in the top tube by the seatpost. Why would you put that nice groupo on that frame?

You might want to check the tubes around the BB shell, i wouldnt be surprised if there is more frame damage.

I'd take the frame, too bad it's not in my size.

For the price of the campy parts and wheelset you could have bought a nice older road bike without frame damage.

This bike has vertical dropouts so I am assuming it started as a geared bike, was made into single speed and is now returning to it's original intended state. So I would say that this is a reversion.

Well, OK. But that's more of a restoration than a conversion. To each their own.

I have the Centurion RS in the rare maroon color. The serial says its made in the first factor so idk. Havent done the conversion yet. But im excited. Howd you get the headset off? mine has like a lock ring at the top that needs a special tool to remove.
Needed a bailout gear, huh? ;)
(Noticed you didn't use the new crank.)

I was going to call it a reversion.

Cool bike, I don't know why so many are giving you crap about the frame. If you like it, good. The frame can always be upgraded.

I've always wondered if those paintless dent repair shops that do cars would be able to massage dents out of bike frames. I've seen them do some pretty amazing work, so I'm betting they could. I doubt that dent is affecting the integrety of the frame.

I submit to your attention this excellent, very informative thread. (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=143225) One of the best on BFSSFG, I think.

Bikesnob talked about how the brakeless hipsters are evolving to road bikes. well, at least the ones who filtered through the whole zen, cool thing.
