Long Distance Competition/Ultracycling, Randonneuring and Endurance Cycling - sort of new to ultradistance cycling
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, I used to be really into ultradistance cycling years ago but took about a 10 year sabbatical to road race and do triathlons and go to Iraq and Afghanistan in the army, among other things, and have since moved to California and realized that now the sport is a whole lot more popular than it used to be.
What are some good sources of information now? RUSA? San Francisco Randonneurs?
Have a look through my links:

you can see a calendar of upcoming brevets for all the four norcal clubs here. (http://www.sfrandonneurs.org/events-calendar.htm)
The SF Randonneurs also maintain a Google Groups page (http://groups.google.com/group/sfrandon) where people share ride reports, publicize upcoming informal rides, etc.
I don't know if you want to jump back in with a major ride, but the SFR 600k is at the end of may. Currently there are around 50 people signed up, I believe, and it's a nice route. Starts and ends at the Golden Gate Bridge, goes up to Fort Bragg.
The other clubs are not as far along in their series yet, so there should be some fairly local 300s/400s in the next couple months too.
