I just got some new risers (origin 8 pro-pulsion) to replace my "oh crap i cut my risers too short" bars i have been riding for a while. I need some new grips and i was hoping I might get your opinion on some

I had Lizard skin crappy crappy grips, which I then replaced with Ergon GX2 grips which are just ok, but i had to cut them to fit my old bars and they just dont woork with the new ones + they were somewhat hard to grip (the ergo thing just doesnt work for me)

I was considering
1) Oury or oury lock ons (my lizard skins come off in the rain once and i am a little hesitant to not have lock on grips
2) PDW Speed metal grips (they have these at my LBS (brooklyn Bicycles)
3) cardiff wood grips (just because they look cool)

and I am open to suggestions, reviews, comparisons etc

oury lock-ons are amazing!

But I have PDW Dapper Dan grips now.

If you or anyone else has trouble with grips slipping when its wet here's a tip.
Before you put the grips on, coat the part of the bars that the grips are going onto in Coca-Cola, or some other terribly sticky sirupy soft drink. Your grips will stay put.

I've found that hairspray is the best for grip application, but you just have to work fast.

Ourys are everywhere, and rightly so I suppose. They've been at it forever, and I use the lock-on version on my MTB. Damn great grips.

For risers on my fixed gears though, I like the ODI Longnecks and the Fly Bikes Rueben grip, just for something different.

I recommend bar tape- I use it on all my bikes including my MTB. Never slips, thickness can be tweaked, easy to install/remove.

I have regular old ourys. Never had a problem with them slipping off wet or dry. Just use compressed air to slide on and you will be fine. If you are really concerned that they may pull off, the haispray trick works too.
