In the saddle of my Specialized Allez Sport...Went out with the intention of doing a Metric century and ended up with 64.77 miles total by the end of the ride..I left the Jax trailhead of the Jacksonville Baldwin Trail about 8:30am and reached the Baldwin end (14.5miles) in 53 minutes...The trip back to the Jax end was a bit faster as I came up on another rider who done a Uturn at the 10 mile marker and was ever so slightly pulling away from me...Well the reel him in attitude took over :o...I had planned on keeping 15-16 mph for the duration but ended up pulling the last ten mile at 18-20...I was dead by the time I reached the Jax trail head and after a short 10 minute conversation and gatorade refill I was back on the trail..The trip back to Baldwin was was normal cept for the squirrels who know no fear...some of them lil SOBs would not move off the trail:p..After the turn around at the Baldwin end I added up that that my distance was gonna come up short at 58 miles and I knew that by the time I reached the Jax trail head in an hour I would not want to turn around and do four miles..I figured if I rode to some place other than where the car was parked I would HAVE to ride that distance back so I took a detour onto Otis road and started riding to wherever the road took me..All in all the trip took me 4 hours and 26 minutes with 15 minutes of it being breaks..During the trip I consumed two 20oz gatorades, a 16oz water bottle, three Bananas and felt great at the end ..Face caked with salt...lol...Half hour later I was seeing spots, dizzy, shaking and severe loose bowels..I slept for about five hours and after waking I had a tender and dry pallet..Im guessing dehydration..:( My first metric century of what I hope to be many ..
