Introductions - My babes

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, in a shortway here is a small presentation of "me":
Yamaha XJ 900S '83
Suzuki Bandit GSF 400 '96
Honda XL 250R '83 (two pieces, one is abandoned from my brother and now is mine)
Kawasaki AR 50 '81
All these beauties are well serviced at least looking at the motor-part (the engines). Once I decided to sell them all and buy something with fewer problems. A shop dealer said to me that "I can give you for all of these an imported Kawasaki ZZR 600 '94 - 4,200 euros - and then all you have to do is to pay me only 1,200 euros! I was ready to suicide and then I said to myself "no sale for my little babies, we're always be together at least in this life". The XJ is ready to travel me to a non stop world-round, the Bandit can shake its rear wheel in the center of city easily, the XL could make feel like a cowboy riding directly into my house at the second floor and the AR could bath me with oil at no charge!!!
The purpose of registering to this forum is to learn more about keep the engines of all these bikes healthy. I cant trust no more the technicians. Too much cost and no love from them during their work. I need to learn how I can do this my self. I am talking for basic things, like a standard service (eg. oil and spark-plug changes) or something more difficult like cleaning up carburators (oops).
I hope I can give some help myself too, possible less help that I could take from all you guys here.
Thanks.
Apostolis, Greece.
Oh dear... we are about BICYCLES, not MOTOR BIKES....
You got any bicycles around your babe arsenal you can share with us, though?

Kind of ironic....we all spend time discussing the best way to keep healty / take care of our engines too! Just that our engines are our bodies... :)

Oh boy, now I have to copy my message and paste it to some related forum :-)
Whatever, I have a bicycle too!
Thanks for letting me know, "bike" rings me a "motor-bike" instead of a simple bicycle, so far.
Not a problem. Now tell us about the ride that pertains to these forums! :D
What about the bicycle you've got? Give us the details...

Its a simple bicycle Koffee (most for childs), bought from a local store for about 120 euros. So its a kind of waste of time to describe it (nothing to describe, two wheels, a tiny chair etc), you must be something like pro in order to have an entire site dedicated to this subject. So, you're athletes, pro/amateurs?
I have a real problem with my weight. I mean now I'm kind of OK (95kg, 1.79m), but I can put even 20kg in a year and lose them the next one. The gold metal I've won it when i've reached 147kg, three years ago. Then I decided to maintain myself a bit and finally I lost 70kg by myself. It was not only the diet, but the exercice to the gym too. I bought the bicycle that time to help me reduce my weight. I used to do rides about 10km away from my home, but without company its a bit an unhappy job to do.
Still single, thats why I love so much the "bikes" thing. Gives me freedom, exotic air to my face at the top of the speed. No talking, no cries for anything, just a turn of my right hand and the world is totally mine (adrenaline thing).
I understand that bicycle has a bit different meaning. The ride is totally depending on our foots, our physical and psychological strength. Thats a great thing too.
Thanks for talking with me.
Well perhaps it's time to update your other ride.... congratulations to you for losing the weight. I bet if you spent more time on your bike, you would keep the weight off, and perhaps even lose some more!
Riding a bike alone can be a bit lonely, but perhaps you could use these boards to make some friends, find some common ground, and find a riding partner? I think a lot of us go through what you went through- I ride alone myself, and it can be a bit lonely at times for me. I ride in the early morning hours, so for me, it's more a matter of finding people who want to get up that early. Seeing as though there usually isn't anyone around riding when I ride, I would say I may never find someone to ride with!
We are not all professionals- just people who enjoy riding. There are a number of different kinds of bikes, so each forum is separated by type of bike and for other cycling related interests. We even have a forum for Training and Nutrition, so you could always find support for improving your training and working with weight loss. We even have a weight loss club started by one of our members, and people use that thread to motivate themselves into losing weight! There are a lot of ways you could use the forums to your advantage.
Myself, I've been riding in Greece- I really do love Greece, although I haven't been back... yet. I could see how a motorcycle gives you that adrenaline rush! The traffic moves very quickly over there! But I definitely feel the same way on my bike, as do a lot of people who ride here- we are not as different from you as you think.
Before you make a final decision to never post again ;) , I'll ask you to spend a week on the forums and just spend some time reading the threads in all the different areas (skip BMX, it makes no sense to any of us! ;) ). Post a few questions you're curious about, and then see if you're still interested. Post back on this thread in a week and let us know what you think of the forum and if you'd like to stay. I think there's definitely a place here for you, no matter what the bike.
Welcome again!

As you can see Koffee, I am spending enough time surfing the internet instead of surfing the roads ;)
I have great experience on being a specific forum member (about computer software development), and there is something common with this forum too: Its not absolutely specific on its subject (biking), but mostly is a friendly community which makes me feel confortable already whether or not I am having wheels to run.
I will follow your advices about looking deep in this site, thank you.
Cool... and let's see some posts from you in other parts of the forum too!
We're all internet geeks here! :D ;)
