I have Zeus brakes on my road bike and live in a place where the brakes are needed for serious downhills...I need some advice before I lay out $$$ to change these weak suckers...

Here's the question...if I switch to a better set of pads and blocks, say Aztec red, will I get enough improvement from the standard crappy pads on the Zeus? Or do I need to just lay out a few bucks for a pair of Chorus brakes? Or is there an aftermarket brakeset that somebody here thinks is better than OEM?

I am hooking these into a Campy Mirage set-up.

Thanks,

Z

Pads will improve dramatically. I would start by getting two new pairs, front and back and see how it goes.
Aztec are one of the best. I use the Aztec2 on mine and recommend them, less than 10 bucks for the two pairs.

I got a pair of the salmon kool stops, and I like them a lot. I just got back from a 60-some mile ride in the rain, and they worked so much better then the 7700 replacement pads that I had before.

Bought them from this store: http://stores.ebay.com/Avicycles. Was happy with the service.
