I use my hybrid a lot of for heavy loads of groceries now and the kickstand that came with it while general good hasn't been so good with this larger hauls.

Can anyone recommend some heavier duty kickstands that would work with my Specialized Globe City 7

Thanks:)

P.S. Also, do you a double kickstand would work too?

I have a Greenfield kickstand and it seems uber-sturdy to me. A lot of people get flack for having a kickstand on their bikes, but I'd prefer to keep my bike's paint in good shape and not have to worry about finding something to lean it on. I think for your case a double kickstand might be better as it would balance out the weight load on both sides of the bike.

Globe City 7?

My girlfriend loves hers:

Keep us updated on what you do get. I think a double kick stand would fit and work just perfectly. My girlfriend is considering one for her bike.

LOL Yea I was waiting to see if I'd get any funny looks comments regarding kickstands. I'll check out the Greenfield and take some closer looks at double kickstands too. Knowing me if I just tried to balance it myself I'd have a lot of squashed bread and broken eggs. I find I've been using my bike more for errands lately than pleasure riding

Thanks:)

Sad photo of my bike with a front flat tyre...Luckily she is getting fixed tonight

oh wow!! Nice bike!! Is her newer? Mine I think is a 2007 model so it looks slightly different. Mine is a 7.1

Its a 2008 model - the last year they made the City 7. I came real close purchasing the matching men's version, but they didn't have my size in stock and considering it was 2009, they weren't going to order one.

That looks perfect!! I'll see if I can find it around here:)

ETA: I just ordered one through my favorite LBS and it will get here in about a week for them to put on for me. Yea I know I can probably do it myself but I really do love these guys:D

If they serve a purpose for you, a kickstand is fine.

I've seen enough bikes on kickstands get blown over or accidentally bumped over such that the paint ends up in worse shape rather then if you had laid the bike down to begin with.

Additionally, if you intend to lock a bike up, there will be something to prop the bike up against anyhow.

So, while some people will hate kickstands just for the sake of them being kickstands, I just don't see them as that advantageous (for me).

I totally get what you are saying but in my case for my purposes I need one and even with a bike rack I almost ended up with squashed bread the other day from overloading my panniers so I want to be safe rather than sorry.

+1 I think that you might be in the market for a double legged kickstand

Yep I think that is what is going to work best. I have one on order now and hopefully it will do the trick.
