Hi guys

I am a roadie. I have a 2001 Univega Modo Volare.

The bike is 56 cm.

I live in Rocky Point, which is supposed to have world class trails. I figure I get a bike and give it a try. Is there a frame conversion? What size frame will I need. Any bike suggestions? Hardtail? Full suspension? Thanks.

Yeah, something tells me he wants to ride mountain bike trails. Otherwise, he's wanting to make a dirt jumper with road bike parts. If that's the case, the seat should be compatible, as long he does use a pivotal post on the BMX.

Regardless, of the type of bike the OP wants to put together, I think he's better off buying a whole new bike. There might be a few road bike parts that will work on an MTB, but it's going to be so few, that it'll probably be cheaper to just buy a complete bike.

convert your frame to full-suspension before going out on any trails. just google this.

Id go with a GT Backwoods, its a hardtail, light and strong, GTs are great bikes and you can find plenty of nice ones on craigslist.
Going from a 56 inch roadie frame, Id get a 18.5 inch mountain frame, hardtail.

No suspension parts, get a 2 speed husselfelt crank, and a 3 speed Sturmey rear hub, and you got 6 speeds, 4 forward, 2 reverse. ;-)
