Hi,

We'll be driving to Salt Lake City and Logan areas in May for vacation. Bopping around town, back in the canyon, looking at the sights. We would love to bring our Surlies with us and ride our bikes as opposed to using the car whenever possible.

Good idea? Bad idea? Will the bikes be safe locked on our Thule rack when not in use? (I hear Logan has one of the lowest crime rates in the country...) Would love feedback from tourists who have brought their bikes when travelling AND from locals who are familiar with how bike-friendly (or unfriendly) these areas are.

Thanks!

Logan Canyon is like a lot of western US canyon roadways.......tight turns and small or no shoulders. It is beautiful though.......you will want to go back in the fall as the colors there are amazing.

As far as crime rates, I wouldn't dispute the Logan stats.....it's a pretty small city. Salt Lake on the other hand....I would be careful where you left your bikes and for how long.

Thanks, ccd rider! This is very helpful. My husband is leaning toward leaving the bikes home so we can just enjoy our vacation, not bring along anything extra we have to worry about.
