Australia - New Zealand - Watching the worlds in Geelong

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hi, I’m wanting to go to Geelong to watch Cadel defend his jersey this year, and also have some friends coming from O/S. We were thinking about taking an organised trip. We could do the self-sorted thing but frankly I’d rather let someone else do all the work for me. I’ve found three possibles - www.bikestyletours.com, www.islandcycletours.com and www.topbike.com.au. Does anyone have any experience with any of these? They all look pretty good – mostly ten days, some riding beforehand, accommodation in Melbourne or Geelong.
I await people’s sage opinion . . .

I cant offer you any personal opinion on any of the companies because I haven't used them but I will say that I think that an organized tour IS the way to go. I visited Geelong once with my brother. Its about a 100 km (if my memory serves me correctly) drive from Melbourne and Geelong itself is a fairly small city. Come the worlds I think it will be seriously over crowded and it would be a VERY good idea to go with a company thats already started planning the event.

For what it's worth, I completely agree with AnthonyG. Booking an organized tour is much less likely to be problem-filled than simply winging it on your own. Have fun!
