Northern California - Sunday May 2-- Diablo junction, new bike revealed, jersey size party

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Here's my plan, and I'm doing it even if I'm all alone!
I plan to leave the Peet's Coffee by Pegasus in Danville at 9AM
We'll do the Diablo Junction loop.
It's short, but it will be the official unveiling of my new ride (I haven't even really seen it myself yet!) and a good test to get it dialed for the upcoming Davis Double.
For those who ordered a Northern California jersey and want to confirm, or change the size, I'll bring a box of the samples I got. I have s,m,l bibs, (so bring your clean undies!) and jerseys in club and race. I'm guessing we can either use Peet's, or beg the bike store to use their changing room.
If you've been on the fence, you can order that day (see price list thread.)
I'll finalize the order Sunday night and send it in.
So:
Bike test
Clothes test
Diablo test

Sounds like fun! But I'll be riding the GPC that day, rats. Enjoy the new bike!

Saw your blog post about the slow/slower century. Sounds like your tanks are depleted and need some down time to recharge. I could see two doubles, a century and all of requisite training doing that to me. I would use the time until the Davis Double to attempt a full recovery and get your new ride dialed in. A couple of 1-2 hr endurance/recovery rides would be my limit, since I would expect that you are plenty trained for the DD.
Good luck with the new ride - what type of bike is it?

Curtis,
If you're leaving at nine, when will you be there to try on the jerseys/bibs?

What's that loop take, 3 lazy hours? Say noon? I'd be willing to exchange cell numbers and meet then.
Or, do it at 8:45 am.

Looks like the color that really made an impression on me at the store; black carbon and white. The model I saw had a hint of blue as well (Saxo Bank), just a fillet extending from the head tube to the top tube but other than that it was the same color as yours. Great choice, it should be as stunning to ride as it is to the eye.
The other thing that impressed me was the size of the bottom tube and bottom bracket.
I am not sure I can make it to the maiden ride on Sunday. I will probably go up the mountain Saturday morning.

Bummer, we're away this weekend.
We have to do an "Antioch" new bike ride soon though. Thom got a new bike too... no pictures of it yet.

Me too! I'm hard to miss, even in a bunch of other cyclists...

I'll have to check out your new ride at Davis (at least for as long as I can keep up with you guys....) - I have the kids this weekend.
They've gotten kind of picky on the parking situation in that parking lot, FYI. I think it's a 2 hour limit. You might try the Walgreens parking lot on Diablo Rd. just to the east of I-680 (if you are heading north on 680, the Diablo Rd. exit takes you right into the parking lot. If you're heading south, you have to make a left onto Diablo and then another left into the parking lot). I've started small groups there a few times with no hassles. Another good parking lot (a bit harder to find though) is for the Osage Station park in Danville.

Osage Park shows up in Google, that's how we found it for the TNT Diablo - MT ride. I liked starting there.

Definitely interested, what is the ride you are talking about like? I just got clearance to ride after surgery on my elbow 2 months ago, so I don't think I can handle anything too crazy yet.

The Osage lot can get pretty crowded depending on what activities are happening at the park. The Park&Ride lot at the northeast corner of the I-680 and Sycamore intersection is closer and pretty empty on weekends - and it's right by the Iron Horse trail which will lead you to Peet's.

Well, we'll meet at Peet's because that's a good place to try on clothes.
But thanks for the parking heads up. So folks might wish to park nearby and ride to Peets.
The ride up Southgate is a climb, not super hard, but it can be a grunt. It is defiantly uphill.

Sorry. I will be recovering from the Wine Country Century, not to mention, I live in Roseville. I will just have to trust that I ordered the right size jersey.

Too much busy for me this weekend.
Saturday I will be getting my ride in in the form of a very early morning metric over Morgan T then up and around Patterson Pass so I can end up at my kid's track meet in Livermore.
Sunday I gotta get them 'maters in the ground.
Have fun!
Wish i can make it, I have the Wine Country Century on Saturday.
And will spend the rest of the weekend in the wine country with family.
Enjoy the new bike.

I just picked up my 2010 Roubaix Expert Triple. I got to ride it about 3 minutes before the big rain hit. I am stoked.
My super short ride down a really crappy road felt great.
I did immediately swap the saddle. It was just too squishy and heavy. I'm trying out a Toupe.
The bars that came on my 52 cm frame are 42, and I've always ridden 40. They may get swapped out as they feel wide.
I think I'm going to commute on it Thursday, because I just can't stand waiting.
Commuting is where I do all my shakedown/fitting rides.

Yeah, did that today. Even managed to sneek out between classes for 25 miles. But really, I wanta know how it feels going up and coming down.
