I placed this post here a couple of weeks ago to brag about my son.

Well, here's the latest. On a very casual ride around the neigborhood 2 weeks ago with my husband pulling the four year old, and myself on my Bridgestone RB-1 (didn't want to risk anything happening to my brand new LeMond)...the above mentioned 6-year old pulled out to pass me, calling out "On your left" as I had instructed him. I was feeling so proud...until he turned right in front of me to go up a driveway on our right.
I went down (in slow motion, according to my husband) and landed on my knee and face. Helmet clunked, but no big impact. Ended up with a couple of stitches. Worst of all, I am now recuperating from knee surgery performed 8/19 to repair a tibial spine fracture and torn MCL. I am on crutches and can hardly move about. How quickly everything can change, huh? Luckily, the son didn't even go down - I think he clipped my front wheel. He did feel bad about the whole thing, and we realize that accidents just happen.
This is my first visit to the basement where we have our computer since this all happened 2 weeks ago on Monday, so I just had to post to see if there's anyone out there that can relate. It is quite disheartening to see all of your "active" pursuits be placed on hold in one fell swoop. I am trying to stay positive and count the weeks til I can do more, but it's hard not to be on the bike.
Keep me in your thoughts and ride for me!
