Hey everyone,
Spring is finally here and I had hear last fall that GT had been bought out, and that the ownership of the company was changing hands. I was kinda bummed but it was the end of riding season and on to skiing. Well I busted my derailleur hanger on my last ride, which in essnece screwed my rear wheel and most of my drive train on the rear wheel. Well I figured that since ski season was upon me, I would wait till Spring to fix it all. Well spring is here and I went to go buy a derailleur hanger and get everything all setup and good to go for riding season only to find out that the local bike shop isn't selling GT's anymore, nor do they have any derallieur hangers....
SO WHAT DO I DO ???
Does anyone know of a place where I can get a derallieur hanger for my frame, and if not....and this will really bum me out....can anyone recommend a new frame that has similar geometry so that I won't have to replace my shock's steering tube as well ???

Its the avalanche AL frame I bough in 97, and kept upgrading new components because it was such a nice light frame. How much do you think the custom machined part would cost ?

This is an easy fix. E bay has them listed fairly often, and lots of LBS still have inventory of parts. If you have trouble finding one, let me know, my LBS has Derailleur hangers in stock for GT's.
Don't throw away your bike because of this. I have 3 GT's and they are great bikes. My nephew just got a new derailleur hanger for his i-drive last week from a shop here. If you don't have any luck, let me know and maybe I could pick one up for you and mail it to you. I have a couple of spares myself, but I would kinda like to keep them, because eventually they will be hard to find.
I hope this helps, I am always willing to help a fellow GT'er
Good luck:p

HEY THAT MAKES 100 POSTS FOR ME...:fun: :fun:
YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
A little change of subject...I am really bummed about GT. It is a crying shame that they went under with Schwinn. I loved the blue/yellow color scheme they used.

Cool,
Thanks guys....this was my first post on bike forums !!! On the side subject I thought that it was a damn shame that GT was bought out and went the way of cheap mass production. One of the reasons I bought my first GT was because of the lifetime warrenty on the frame. I guess that no longer applies. They made some kick *** bikes, and had some really good riders to back their stuff up. For all those out there who still ride GT....keep goin' !!! And if you see a fellow GT'er out there...give him a wave, for those who own a GT will always love their GT.
Here is a picture of me last year riding my beloved bike. The picture was taken by my friends wife in Colorado last summer.

Hehehe....there is a little mound about 5 feet away...Its a nice straightaway so I got some speed and went off it (with a little help from a bunny-hop) and got that air....
Thanks,
Seth
