Mountain Biking - Favorite Trail bike?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So, what would be the picks for favorite Trailbike? I'm talking woods, gnarly trails, some jumps and some cross country. What gets the nod. Any opinions? No real price restrictions, just what do you think works the best?

So, you live in FL? Whereabouts? A few of us from down here.
Oh yeah, as far as trailbike. Probably my Intense Uzzi SL. I'd like to try one of the new 5.5's from them as well.
I also like Specialized's Enduro line of bikes.
I rode some guys Turner 5 spot and that was pretty sweet, even though the set-up wasn't what I preferred.
Too many to list.

I live near Lakeland. Can't wait to ride. Would be cool to get together with some other riders. (Especially if they will ocasionally wait for my slow self!)

Carter Road or the T.O.E?
Do you know about the RidgeRiders? Check them out at www.ridgeriders.net
Local club, they develope a lot of trails and do a lot of maintenance. I need to renew my membership. Membership grants you access to the T.O.E.
I understand a lot Carter Road is under-water or really wet.
I rode Alafia River State Park, (off of S.R. 37- South and West of Mulberry) and much of the trails there were also closed off due to water.

Just checked out Ridge Runners yesterday. I get good vibes from that club. Also was at Alafia yesterday and enough of it was open to have awesome time! River trail was to sloppy and buggy for me though. Spent an hour after I got home drowning ticks in alcohol trying to get them to let go. I actually took a lighter and burnt one to a crisp WHILE he was on my leg. The thing had a death grip on me.

If you hadn't thrown in the cross-country part, this would be easy. :)
I am a Horst link rear suspension fan, so I have to agree with A2 on the Enduro possibility. Depending on the amount of cross country you plan to do, the new SX Trail may suit your needs (as I am hoping it will do for me :D ).
i would say for sure the enduro..i was just reading a reveiw article in a magazine talkin about is revoulutionary suspention that actually thinks for it self...i didnt get much of it but it sure sounded cool

I'm hoping to have a new bike here in a few weeks! :) I'll definately be hitting Carter Road (probably the first weekend I have it!) I've been looking around, but having a hard time deciding! I'll definately post when I get it. Would like to hook up with some of the FL guys!

Planning on hitting Carter Road two weeks from Yesterday. That would be um September 12th. We'll leave Sarasota around 8:00 and get to Carter @ 9:30 +/- a few minutes. Actually closer to 9:45.
I've got a new 2004 GMC Sierra Extended Cab, Wine Red. It'll have 4 or 5 bikes in the back!
PM me and I'll send you my phone number.
Also, wfin2004. PM as well. Maybe we can hook-up for a ride up at Alafia when it dries out. I was up there yesterday as well. What do you drive/ride. Obviously a Trek. I was parked on the end in the parrallel parking side on the south side of the loop, in front of the lime green VW Bug.

I was parked right right next to you. Drive a maroon S-10. Nice Color on the VW bug! Don't they call that Turbonium or something like that?

Kona has some pretty sweet trial bikes. Like the Dawg or even the Stinky line up.
how come no one mentioned the santa cruz blur or to a lesser extent the superlight

They tend to be a little more XC oriented. I did try out a Santa Cruz Heckler yesterday, however, and it really impressed me.
For Horst-link designs, another one to consider is the Titus Switchblade. The suspension allows for a fair amount of adjustment to fit different riding styles.
yeah true but the blur has 5 in rear travel doesnt it????? and id probably take it if someone gave one to me haha
