Anyone doing the C race on the 5th?
Last time I did one (4 yrs ago), I was dropped in 3 laps, lapped at 7. Gonna see if I can't improve on that - at least the getting lapped part.
nice. consider doing the B race, it makes fighting the traffic on the way over more worthwhile.
if you get dropped, just go to the S/F and tell the officials you want back in, they'll direct you to the upper most parking lot exit and you can jump back onto the back of the pack, you're just not in contention any longer and supposed to stay out of the way for premes and the sprint.
i'm not planning on the 5th, but will be out a few times in the A race. it's a great way to spend a wednesday evening, i just wish the 270/beltway traffic on the way there wasnt so frustrating.
I may. Though I'd do the B race. Gotta see if it's reasonable to get from L'Enfant Plaza to Greenbelt by bike after work. I'll probably try a route out this weekend to check how long it takes.

Is the course open for cyclists during the week? Obviously, one would have to deal with cars, just like anywhere else, but it would be nice to do a few laps on Monday or Tuesday.

I'm not sure if I'll be there for the 5th, but I plan on being there for the B races whenever possible. Is there a good place to warm up around there?
^no. they used to let you warm up during the C race, just get outta the way when they come through. now, they wont. most folks ride the course and instead of turning right at the only turn on the course, turn left and ride back and forth in that part of the park. others take trainers. i'm not taking a trainer to a training race.
Yes, you can ride the course other days of the week. It does get repetitive if done too often (I was in grad school at UMD and rode there all the time).
Like MDcatV said, most people warm up by taking a left at the turn and going uphill. You can often just cruise around in the campsites at the top, there's little traffic up there on a wednesday evening.
I'm moving back to DC in a couple of months, and will see you there a couple of times later in the summer. And like said above, do the B race, and if you get dropped, just wait at the top of the hill and get back in the pack when they come around. That'll be much better training than the C race, and will give you more time to get there.

I'm definitely stronger than I was 4 yrs ago, but I'll try the C to begin. If I can hold on to that, I may move up to B.
Going to be there and race the C race to see how it goes. Hope to move up some time during the summer

I got a 4 race pack, so I'll probably be there next week in the B race.
The C race is cake if you have a few races under your belt, but it's a great place to start if you don't.

Now I'm going to feel really bad when I get dropped.
