Road Cycling - Best Saddle under $100?

What do you think the best moderately light and comfortable saddle for $100 or less would be?

You are not going buy a new one for under a $100.00, they retail for $124.00, but I'd look on Ebay for a Fizik Arione. I've tried a lot of different saddles and this one very comfortable. Having said that I belive that, like shorts and shoes, saddles are a very personal purchase. What is comfortable to me may not be to you.

I found I like the terry FireFly Mens. A buddy got one after taking a ride on mine. there are around 100 but can be found cheaper on sale some times. But as with everything you get for your bike it is all personal preference.

I'd second the Fizik Arione. You can get them new on ebay for less than $100. I bought mine from a lbs for $124. When I get another for my trainer bike, I'll get it on ebay - maybe - my lbs has been pretty good to me with discounting stuff to upgrade my trainer.

u can try and PM leefunk33.. he's selling his saddle from his 04 tarmac. he used it only about 20 miles before changing it to a different one. i'm sure he'll give you a good deal.

stupid question really....ask anyone who does lots of miles on the bike....If you find a saddle that is comfortable & suits you.....it doesn't matter how much it costs!...the sky is the limit in the comfort stakes!. Having said that, I'm Mr. Lotsa seats!. Currently very, very happy with the Fizik Arione. Also have San marco aspide (not the FX model) on the training bike, not as comfy, but Ok. Have the Aspide FX (100gm) brand new in the cupboard & a Selle italia Turbomatic 4...anyone wanna buy them?

the concept behind the Arione is very interesting. so once broken in, can i assume that each individual one will feel slightly different? i might give that one a try if it's available at my lbs :)

Someone (with a lot of time on their hands) should do a study on what type of saddle is used by what body shape and weight. Maybe a pattern would emerge.

I was lucky to a friend who raced for the past 30 years, and collected many many saddles. I took a box full from him and started to test ride them. One saddle i came back to all the time was the Avocet Air O2. (http://www.avocet.com/saddlepages/saddles.html) It is not the most durable saddle, but man, fits my a$$ like a.... what ever fit an a$$ best.. :) and I see that they have it now with Kevlar reenforced corners, which will fix the durability issue.. It sells for ~$80.00

A saddle is a very personal choice, It depend on how much your are trained too. My most confortable saddle is a Selle Italia ProLink Gel (with carbon rail) $60 on eBay, it is a little bit big and eavy but very confortable.

You can narrow your choices down a bit depending on your
anatomy -- how wide are your sit-bones. If you think you're
a little wider than average, some good saddles under ~300 gms include
the selle italia prolink and max flite models, the koobi enduro,
several WTB models (they have saddle dimensions on their website),
and I'm sure many others. However, I think most road saddles
are targeted for the narrow-of-beam people, so if your rear end
is not-so-wide, there are an unbelieveable number of choices.

The Fizik Arione has been getting good reviews lately. Undoubtedly we will hear from someone who has joined the Brooks religion. Personally I have 5 saddles in my garage that I didn't like including Selle italia Gel, Serfas RX, Specialized BG, etc. I currently ride and enjoy the San Marco ERA.

So go to your LBS and try a few!

I have the black / yellow one on my bike... Quite comfortable for me.

My other bike has a Selle Italia Flite TI (mtn bike) I like that one to...this one feels better for sitting for long periods of time, and the flite is better for moving around (when mtn biking)

Hell,i'll take cool over usefull anytime. I'm glad LA doesnt cut off his manhood{at least the rest of it** because to be cool,we would all be walking around funny.
